I
was getting bored with the Valkyrie, so I traded it in on the chopper!
You can call me Chopper Bob now! That thing is cool! I've made an
appointment at the tatoo parler and Dave Fashenpour has agreed to take
a hammer to my front teeth so I'll really look right on the chopper.
Actually, the above is not true. I wouldnt trade the Valk for this
thing, but I must admit it's cool. Dave and I did a good samaritan deed
Saturday morning, moving this thing to Alvin for a friend of his. On
a trailer, neither of us was gonna ride that thing. Dave did
drive it on the trailer like a pro, though. Dave is looken good below
on the same bike.

Here's Joanie Buchanan getting ready to take another Nun for a ride in
her sidecar. The 3rd annual Retreads / Sisters of Charity NUNRUN is now
history and it was a resounding sucess! Ill have the exact amount of
the sucess in a few days in terms of money collected and the number of
bikes.

Wow! looks real, doesnt it? Quite an imporvement from what I flew at 10
years old with wire line control. A real jet engine. The Retreads
visited "Bomber Field", near Monaville Saturday, and saw a great exibit
of super model airplanes.

As you
all know, our David
Beverly
was killed Friday (4-20-07) at NASA. This will leave a hole in our
hearts and club that can never be filled. We sent 2 nice plants to
Linda's home. Many want to make donations in Dave's name. Linda
suggested that Retreads give directly to the NUNRUN. If you want to do
this:
Make checks payable the CHRISTUS Southwest Community Health Center and
put to the gift is in memory of Dave Beverly in the memo line.
Mail to:
Southwest Community Health Center - Nun Run P.O. Box 1919 Houston, TX
77251-1919
I
hope all Retreads will want to contribute to the NUNRUN, but if you
want to make a general contribution, a Memorial fund has been set up,
Linda will distriubute the funds to a number of charities, including
the NUNRUN.
If you want to contribute to the Memorial
Fund for
the benefit of Wesley David Beverly, it's c/o JSC
Federal Credit Union,
P.O.

Join the Retreads for Breakfast, we meet EVERY Saturday morning at Kelley's at Park Place,
just south of Loop 610 in I-45 Southbound. Click HERE for a map to Kelley's.
Some come at 7 AM, others later, by 9 we are usually on a ride to somewhere if the weather's nice.
Call Bob at 281-217-6673 for more information if you want to.

The
Retreads had a fine Ride Saturday (7-14-07) Wherever they are, gas is
cheap! I want some of that 25/gal stuff, too!

Let's welcome a new Retreads member, Ken Dyess!

Here's Tim, Rex and Dave, about to do what Retreads do best, EAT!! Tim
and Rex look like they could stand to eat a bit, but watch it there,
Dave!

Here's Mike, Tim, and Rex getting ready to ride!

WOW! Someone has a V-Rod to be proud of! This is Steve Price's bike,
he'll be joining the Retreads in the future.

Here's Steve and his bike.

Here's Bob in Key West. What a beautiful old Harley! Sitting on the
front porch of a house painted to match the bike! Key West is a city
all should visit at least once. A Cheeseburger in Paridise is $9.75 +
tax, but that's with fries. Parking is so limited in Key West Im not
surprized the bike is kept on the porch. Key West is moped capital of
the world, theres a bike rental place on every corner, people are
wizzing by on those things like flies at a picnic.

What is it? Whatever it is, Key West is full of em! You can rent one on
about every corner.

Here's David and Linda Beverly, David restored that old Harley himself,
and was very very proud of it. The Beverly's used this picture on a
Christmas Card several years ago

Our Beloved David Beverly , far right, is discussing his favorite
subject, MOTORCYCLES with the Retreads on our recent trip to Concan.
Facing away from the camera is Tim Hollingsworth. David's face is
hiding Beverly Ruffin's. Mike Murphy is in the blue shirt, Joe Urban in
the purple shirt, and Bob Switzer in the white shirt.

On
our
way for the 2007 version of the Retreads Annual Concan Ride! As usual,
John and Sandy Lawrence were great guides, the storm tested their
leadership ability more than most years. That's
John Lawrence reading a fortune cookie. It says.......don't worry,
the weather will be great tomorrow! And fortunately, the cokie
was correct! (But, it did get worse before it got better! See the golf
ball size hail below.)

What a difference 24 hours can make! This is why we ride motorcycles!

We must be living right, we were in this hail, and one biker thought he
had two small dings due the hail, but wasn't sure. you wouldn't want to
be hit in the head, (or gas tank) by one of those!

Here's John Lawrence, Jim jordan, David Smith, and Beverly Ruffin getting ready to ride the threes!

Here's a Great Shot of Bob King's K1200-LT, taken on a recent trip to
Arkansas. He did over 1500 miles in 4.5 days...very respectable!! This
pic was taken at Petit Jean Mountain State Park. Notice the fall
colors, I bet that was a great ride!

This is an all time favorite Retreads Picture. Taken by David Smith on
one of our rides to Big Bend. That's John and Sandy Long with the
yellow helmets. This pic certainly captures what it's all about.
How about
that NUNRUN, folks!
Wow! Unofficial count was 137 bikes and we raised OVER $86,000 dollars
for those kids in need! And we all had a great time! What a nice double
whammy! Click HERE
to see some pictures from the 2006 NUNRUN.
Dave
Fashenpour has come across a great motorcycle
organization......The Patriot Guards. They provide motorcycle escorts
for military funerals when requested by the family. Dave has attended 2
recently, and says it's a very moving experience and appreciated by the
families. In his participiations, there were no protesters, but in some
cases, protestors show up at military funerals and shout nasty things
at the families for having family members in the military. It's ironic,
isn't it, that heros die for the freedom of others to do such things.
Don't get me started.......... At any rate, if you want to learn more,
visit their site http://patriotguard.org
for more information...
